Comments about Fox 30 Backpack (Youth):
Only used it once for my 10 year-old daughter. I have a 12 year-old daughter that has an Osprey Jib (slightly larger than the Deuter Fox 30). I do like the Osprey pack better, but the price is also a lot higher.
My 10 year-old daughter is on the short skinny side. The pack fit her perfect on the lowest setting. We went on a small 9 mile overnight backpacking trip through hilly, rocky terrain. She had a 2 liter bladder, sleeping bag and clothes. All together the pack and her gear weighed about 13 pounds. The sleeping bag and bladder almost filled the entire pack. My daughter never complained, said it was very comfortable, told me the only thing that hurt were her feet.
I do wish this pack had some sleeping pad/sleeping bag/tent loops at the bottom, and there are 2 exterior side pockets that are really useless...don't understand why they are there. Other than that, it is a great pack
