Brooks
Cascadia 7 Shoe (Men's)
Product Number: 29237
Designed from the ground up, the men's Brook's Cascadia 7 defines what a trail shoe should be: rugged without sacrificing runnability. Infused with Brooks technology and a bit of insight from ultrarunner Scott Jurek, this amazing piece of equipment features an asymmetric upper that anatomically wraps the foot with conforming materials, a ballistic rock shield and toe protector for dicey terrain, and four-point pivot posts that act like a suspension system for your feet. Top it off with an intuitive lug pattern and this trailblazer is ready to tackle even the toughest terrain.

These are my only trail running shoes, and I put them to the test a couple of weeks ago, running the R/C stump jump 50k. Many times I saw other runners slide in spots where I did not. At least once, I landed hard on a pointy rock at midfoot, and my foot was totally protected. Later in the race as I was not picking my feet up so well, I kicked some rocks and roots very hard, the toe protection held up well. For the amount of protection and support you get, I think these are very light weight and comfortable.
