This is my first PFD. Astral is a wonderful American made company out of North Carolina. This PFD in specific was recommended to my by an avad paddler. I used it for SUP (Stand Up Paddling). I mostly paddle in warm weather, and this PFD is very breathable. It also has really good pocket space for my snacks, GPS, Compass, sun screen and other items. I was very happy with it's adjust ability and it fit me very well and would not ride up when I was in the water. This PFD is also supposed to be good for white water. The back of the PFD has thick padding, so depending on your boat, you will want to try it on to make sure it feels good while your on the water. Some people prefer a PFD with less padding on the back.
